A typical Tabata workout (using the sprint example) would look something like this:

Walk - 10 sec
Sprint - 20 sec
Walk - 10 sec
Sprint - 20 sec
Walk - 10 sec
Sprint - 20 sec
Walk - 10 sec
Sprint - 20 sec
Walk - 10 sec
Sprint - 20 sec

Sprint - 20 sec

The active work portion of Tabata can be any high intensity exercise, not just sprints. For example, you can do jump rope, kettlebell or dumbbell swings, jumping jacks, barbell front squats, dumbbell thrusters, burpees, etc.

I could go on and on listing exercises, but you get the point. Just choose any exercise that can be performed at a high intensity and do it for 20 seconds, and then follow that with rest for 10 seconds. Repeat this cycle until you complete 8 total sets.

That’s it. It’ll be the most effective fat loss workout you’ll ever do. It’s not fancy, definitely not pretty, and you will probably need a puke bucket the first couple of times you do it. But, give it an honest chance and watch the fat melt away.
